Tonight we get the results from the Group 3 live performances of last night. You can read my comments as I blogged live last night but my predictions: Lil Rounds, Scott MacIntyre and Felicia Barton.
In the competition so far, I’m 3 for 3 in my predictions. Here’s a live recap of the Group 3 results show:
Tonight the gang kicks off with a group performance of Katy Perry’s “Hot and Cold.” They sounded great but what I’m impressed with is the way they were able to choreograph around Scott’s inability to move around the stage without a guide. He can’t see the rest of the group, but he still hit all of the moves on cue, even though he sat the whole time. Great job.
The recaps are good – last night was actually a good show. Jorge tells Ryan that the 78 degree temps in SoCal are freezing. Nathaniel says he wouldn’t have done anything different. Ju’Not tells us he had an asthma attack during the rehearsal of the group performance and had to go right to the doctor.
For our first results, Ryan calls Lil and of course, she’s through. No surprise there. She gives thanks to God – after hearing her story about losing their family’s home in a tornado (I think it was a tornado) I’ve suspected that she’s a Christian and heard that she sings in her church in Memphis. Add another Christian to the top 12!
Next up, Ryan has Arianna, Taylor, Alex, Kendall and Scott stand up, telling us one is through. Who’s it gonna be? I’m saying Scott. And it’s …Scott. Again, no surprise. i think there are better singers in the competition, but I really like this guy. They ought to give him glasses, though, to kind of counter that blank stare he has. I think that might help him appear less uncomfortable on stage. Although from now on, we might see him behind his piano.
Nathaniel and Kristen stand up – too bad they’re attached at the hip after the Hollywood week drama – and it’s a no for both of them. No surprise.
Felicia and Von are up next. (Hmm. The third person might end up being Jorge.) America voted and it’s a no – for now.
Ju’Not and Jorge are the last two standing, and I’ll bet it’s Jorge. The winner is … Jorge! Oh, I’m happy with that. He’s emoting in Spanish. They have him take a stool and tell him to he’ll sing later.
That’s because it’s time to announce the Wild Card contestants. It works like this: each of the judges gets to name 2 contestants, and it’s been rumored there might be a 9th contestant. They perform tomorrow and the judges make the decisions that night. In the event of a 2-2 tie, Simon’s vote is the tie breaker.
They’ve brought back a bunch of contestants, not knowing who would make it through tonight, so after the break we’ll find out who’s getting a second chance. Let’s see, with 8 spots to fill for tomorrow, I’m guessing Anoop Desai, Ricky Braddy, Kristen McNamara, Von Smith, Ju’Not Joyner, Mishovanna, Jesse Langseth? .. well, here, let’s find out!
Randy pics Von Smith first, and that’s a good one. Kara picks Jasmine Murray, another great pick. Paula picks Ricky Braddy – perfect choice. Simon’s pick is Megan Corkrey.
So there’s the first four, no surprises there, and all great picks.
Randy’s next pick is … OH HORROR OF ALL HORRORS!!! Tatiana is back!! She’s mentally unhinged, seriously. I don’t even know if I can keep watching with her on the show. Seriously.
Awesome, Kara’s next pick is Matt Giraud. Paula picks Jesse Langseth. Perfect. And the last spot goes to Anoop Desai. No surprise.
So tomorrow, we’ll be watching:
Anoop Desai
Ricky Braddy
Von Smith
Jesse Langseth
Jasmine Murray
Megan Corkrey
Matt Giraud
and as much as it pains me to type … Tatiana del Toro.
We’ve seen these guys perform so they’re not strangers. But tomorrow the judges make the pick, not America. Remember, the Wild Card round can launch a career. Clay Aiken was a Wild Card choice, as was Jennifer Hudson. That winner of this season could be in this group.
So who do you think is going to fill those last three seats?
