What do you get when you mix a little Hanson with some Cheap Trick and a dash of Smashing Pumpkins and Fountains of Wayne?A new pop called Tinted Windows. Rolling Stone’s Smoking Section highlights the new supergroup, which features Taylor Hanson (Hanson), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins), Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) and Bun E. Carlos (Cheap Trick).I remember when Taylor Hanson and his brothers were the hot item with our daughter and her friends. Parents loved them because they were rumored to be Christians, were homeschooled and were squeaky clean. And yes, some of us liked “Mmmbop.”But I also remember when Cheap Trick was the hot item with my sister and her friends, 20 years earlier. Wow, how time flies. You can get a taste of the band with the video clip above. (Is it just me, or does Taylor Hanson have a little Rick Springfield thing going on?)Tinted Windows’ self-titled debut album releases April 21. You can check out the band’s song “Kind of a Girl” at the Rolling Stone Smoking Section website.
