It’s been fixed and I appreciate your patience with my terrible spellchecking this week! – Joanne)American Idol winner David Cook announced today, Sunday May 3, that his brother Adam, who had been battling a brain tumor, died on Saturday. David Cook was the Grand Marshal at the annual Race for Hope DC, a 5K race to benefit National Brain Tumor Society. Although he began his welcome speech in a jovial frame of mind, his choked back tears talking about his brother, adding that there wasn’t anywhere else he would have rather been that day. Cook apparently cancelled some shows on his current tour a few weeks ago, and spent time with his brother, saying their goodbyes then.Entertainment Weekly reports that in honor of Adam’s memory, fans can make donations to David’s Race for Hope team, which according to People.com was the top fund-raiser, bringing in more than $98,000; the race in total raised almost $2 million.
