Jason Gray fans asked for it, and with his new albu now they can have it: Jason’s personal life, up for grabs.
“In today’s competitive mart of music commerce, fans want more than just the music,” explains the often quirky and extremely talented Gray. “On facebook, they want to see pics of me from the last concert in Muskogee, Oklahoma as well as my day spent at Putt Putt mini-golf in Hoboken, New Jersey. With twitter they want to know whether I’m camping out in front of the theater to get good seats for “High School Musical II” or walking in to Wal-Mart to get water colors for my Unicorn paintings. These special packages include price points for everyone and will offer unprecedented access to my life, my personal effects and even my mini-van!”
The new album Everything Sad Is Coming Untrue, is set to release in September, and fans will have several options to choose from:
The standard thirteen-song album will be available at traditional retail.
The special edition will only be available online and will feature the standard CD with a nine-song bonus CD, along with an extended thirty-two page booklet featuring Jason’s thoughts and stories behind each song.
The deluxe edition will include everything from the special edition, plus an exclusive t-shirt and an exclusive hand-crank collectible music box that will play the title song. If Christian music fans order the deluxe edition before September 1st, they will also receive the full CD as a 320 kbps download at the time of purchase.
There are fifteen additional deluxe edition options for Everything Sad Is Coming Untrue. The options range from an autographed pair of red canvas shoes (and if you wear them to Jason’s concert he might wink at you from the stage), Jason and his wife, Taya coming to your home for a living room concert (and Jason might even alphabetize your DVD/CD collection), or going to Seoul, South Korea for a 2-day guided tour with Jason & Taya. (Jason recently performed for the American troops in Seoul).
For example:
For $49 Jason will leave a personal and meaningful comment on your Facebook/Myspace page every day for a week, and call you personally to thank you for buying his record.
For $3,499 you can get a brand new autographed Taylor 714CE guitar – the same kind that Jason takes on the road with him. Included will be the tab sheets for all the songs on the record, as well as Taya’s famous recipe for cinnamon scones – a gift that will keep on giving. Jason will also leave a personal and meaningful comment about your new guitar on your facebook/myspace page every day for a week.
For $3,999, you can meet Jason & Taya in Orlando, FL for dinner at Wolfgang Puck’s in Downtown Disney, and then go watch Cirque du Soleil afterwards. (Your meal and show for two people are included in the package; you will be responsible for your own travel and lodging.)
It’s a Jason Gray free-for-all, and really, it’s all for fun. Kind of reminds me of one of the funniest books/ideas I’ve ever seen, “All My Life For Sale,” where author John Freyer catalogued and sold nearly everything that he owned, from his kitchen cutlery to his personal hygiene products to his own birthday party, and then went and visited his stuff, taking pictures and publishing a book. Very good stuff.
