Chynna Phillips, who found fame as part of the pop trio Wilson Phillips, is back again with a new singing partner and album.
And a little family crisis.
Phillips teamed up with singer songwriter Vaughn Penn, New Music Weekly’s 2007 “Top 40 Breakthrough Artist of the Year,” for their new release, One Reason. The album hit stores on the 22nd.
The very next day, Chynna Phillips’ half sister Mackenzie Phillps released her memoir, High On Arrival, in which she revealed that she’d had an on-again-off-again consensual sexual relationship with her father John Phillips, of the 60s folk group The Mama and the Papas.
Chynna has said to various media outlets that she was stunned by the revelation, and told an audience during an appearance last week on “Oprah”, “I pray that we all get closer through this crisis. With prayer, anything is possible. But I would be lying to you if I didn’t tell you that there are going to be some huge obstacles in front of us.”
Chynna Phillips is married to actor Billy Baldwin, whom she described to People Magazine as “an evolving Christian.” (Billy Baldwin is the brother of Stephen Baldwin, and a devout Christian. Both brothers recently appeared on the reality show, “I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!”) Phillips became a Christian as a teen, but rediscovered her faith years later.
Vaughn Penn, the other half of the new duo, committed her music career to God during a life-threatening medical condition four years ago, and began to write songs to specifically encourage others to develop a relationship with Christ.
Chynna & Vaughn are currently on NewSong’s 21- city “Give Yourself Away” tour. They’ll appear today on “Good Morning America” and also “Entertainment Tonight.”
