Last year, Guy Penrod left the Gaither Vocal Band after 14 years with the group to pursue a solo career.
Penrod signed a recording deal with Gaither Music Group and his new solo project, Breathe Deep, is set to release in February. The album will feature 13 country selections focusing on faith and family.
“I will be forever grateful to the Gaither Vocal Band and the fans around the world who have loyally supported me all these years,” said Penrod in a press release. “Their encouragement has given me wings to fly solo, and I couldn’t be more excited about my new music.”
In the same release, Barry Jennings, president, Gaither Music Group, said, “Guy played an unforgettable role in the Gaither Vocal Band’s award-winning history. Now, after launching out on his own in 2009, he has created a recording that really brings together the things that have always been close to his heart: faith and family. Gaither Music Group is very proud to release his first solo recording and we look forward to watching him succeed as a solo artist.”
