I noticed something in last night’s reading that I found interesting. When God was giving instructions on building the tabernacle and everything in it, he says in Exodus 31:

1 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 2 “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, 4 to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, 5 in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.

God actually prepared and called an artist to serve in a very important duty that benefitted His people. That makes me feel good. Sometimes I feel like I really don’t have much to offer God that’s important. I can string together sentences in a (semi) coherent manner, and I can occasionally make people laugh. But it’s not like I’m not a missionary in some developing country or something. What can a writer (who spends all day in her pajamas with a cat, two Border collies and six chickens) do for God?
And yet, God has prepared me and called me for whatever duty he has planned. Even if ti’s writing a blog about American Idol? Yeah, I guess so …
Anyway, here are the readings for today, February 11:
Exodus 33:1-34:35
