leadership5

Today we are facing many powerful challenges that greatly affect our lives and well being including the world economy, unemployment, global warming, food and water, education and health.

The world and our county needs leadership with vision, honesty, integrity and compassion.  Our political process must transform into a system that works for the good of all people.  Our current level of success is clearly demonstrated by the state of our individuals and families, our economy, health care, unemployment and school system.  We can do better!

Money, greed and power controls our government and economy.  It’s time for a change and key leadership is vital to guide and empower this change.

In the book, “Keep Going, The Art of Perseverance,” Joseph Marshall III shares a great example of leadership:

“In the old days our people had a unique way of selecting leaders.  They preferred men of experience.  It wasn’t unusual for them to approach a man and ask him to lead.  Today we elect people who promise us they will do something.  Those who promise the most are often the ones who really haven’t accomplished much to begin with.  I prefer the old days.  Back then you knew what a man was likely to do because of what he had already done, or been through.

Adversity has much to teach us.  Facing the wind and the cold and the darkness brought by the storms of life is never easy, but it is necessary.  A true leader has faced the difficulties that life has thrown in his path.  Strength that comes from adversity does not weaken in the face of adversity.”

Dr. Jean Houston, scholar and philosopher:

“Today’s culture exists Not to nurture our highest aspirations.  Our educational system is designed to create good workers who will slot into jobs and careers later in life – not to empower fiery, creative people who are forging the path ahead together.”

“This is the most compelling moment in human history!”

According to Dr. Houston, the way we conduct business and govern is shifting in the midst of vast ecological and financial changes.  This is perhaps the most important social event of the last five thousand years, because these issues impact almost everything in our lives and on our planet.

“For here we are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead.”   Thomas Jefferson

“We must become the change we want to see in the world.”   Gandhi

We must stand together.
