From “The New Heart At Work” by Jacqueline Miller and Heidi Alber
“Making Waves,” The Ripple Effect by John and Regina Scully:
“Without water we all would wither and die and so it is with our children. Unless we give them the equivalent gift to, not only sustain life, but also to be the best possible citizens of the world, we have missed an opportunity to impact life as we know it today.
Education is a birthright for all and one which requires a great deal more attention. What brilliant minds have we passed over because our focus on excellent education has been limited to certain areas, certain children as well as funds drawn away for more important issues? A child’s zip code should not affect the quality of education they receive. What could be more important than shaping the future leaders of our country and the world with integrity and humility? Our children, like water, must be treated with the utmost respect. We must give them the tools to succeed, guide them as we would a plan to irrigate a desert. Wonderful things can happen in a parched desert. An oasis full of life can be created and sustained.
It is incumbent upon us to create the perfect wave, to throw the pebble into the water and let it reach the farthest shores. Educating a child changes the individual, changes their family, changes the community, affects the state, changes the country and affects the world. It is truly the ripple effect. Self-esteem, self-determination, consciousness, integrity, dignity, and respect affect us all. We have the means to accomplish this investment in our children. Let’s all get in the water and make waves and cause a tsunami of transformation.”
“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.”
“Until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other’s welfare, social justice can never be attained.”
