Today, March 9th, is a unique day.
On March 9, 1936, Sri Yukteswar entered mahasamadhi, a God, illumined master’s conscious exit from the body at the time of physical death. Sri Yukteswar was the beloved guru of Paramahansa Yogananda.
“The root of pain is egoistic actions, which (being based on delusions) lead to misery.”
“As man is the likeness of God, directing his attention inward he can comprehend within him the said Force and Feeling, the sole properties of his Self-the Force Almighty as his will.”
“The brain and spinal pathway is considered to be the seat of the consciousness in the body. Moving life force through the chakras is the kriya pranayama that purifies the mind and results in happiness. Thus purifying the mind and physical systems, the truth seeker attains a state of beatitude.”
Sri Yukteswar
On March 9, 1931, Roy Eugene Davis, one of Paramahansa Yogananda’s disciples, was born.
Today is his 80th birthday. Roy is one of the few living direct disciples of Yogananda. He continues to teach the principles of meditation and kriya-yoga that he learned from his guru. His website is www.csa-davis.org. and his books and teaching are available to all.
From “Seven Lessons In Conscious Living,” by Roy Eugene Davis:
“Opinions about the meaning of life and the purposes for our being in this world are of little value. If our thoughts and actions do not enhance our lives, the lives of others and the environment, our relatively brief sojourn in this mundane realm of temporary relationships and transitory events is wasted.“
“By earnest endeavor and God’s grace, when I was eighteen years of age I met Paramahansa Yogananda and became his disciple. As a child, I was self-motivated to discover the practical means by which my desire to know the purpose of my life and my relationship to God could be most quickly and efficiently fulfilled.
When I was with my guru, he demonstrated by his presence and demeanor how a Self-realized person lives. He provided wise counsel and encouragement, freely shared his knowledge, and initiated and instructed me in spiritual practices. One evening in the late autumn of 1951, a few months before he left his body, he transmitted to me the enlivening power of his enlightened consciousness and ordained me to teach. The essence of what I learned during those early years, and have personally realized during the decades that have passed since then, I now offer to sincere devotees on the spiritual path in this concise lesson format.”
Back Cover of “Seven Lessons In Conscious Living“:
“I salute the supreme teacher, the truth, whose nature is bliss; who is the giver of the highest happiness; who is pure wisdom; who is beyond all qualities and infinite like the sky; who is beyond words; who is one and eternal, pure and still; who is beyond all change and phenomena and the silent witness to our thoughts and emotions. I salute the truth, the supreme teacher.“
Ancient Vedic Hymn
I am blessed to have Roy as my guru and teacher and wholeheartedly recommend his books and wisdom for your highest growth and greatest possibility.
