Grapefruits are citrus fruits that can be very beneficial to you if you are suffering from inflammatory problems.

Patients suffering from conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and other inflammation-related problems have reported a decrease in symptoms after consuming grapefruits daily. Scientists suspect that the link lies in plant compounds found in grapefruits that block the functions of prostaglandins which contribute to inflammation.

In addition to inflammation, grapefruits are also great for preventing cancer and heart diseases. Their peels are found to be rich in plant compounds known as bioflavonoids.

As a citrus fruit, the grapefruit is rich in vitamin C and potassium, but low in calories and hence is great for those on a diet.
