A few days ago, I received a review copy of Alef Bet Yoga for Kids from my friends at Kar-Ben. I can state unequivocally that this is the most fun I have ever had reading an alphabet book to my children. Each letter of the alef-bet is represented both in print and by a child in a yoga pose resembling the letter (some more closely than others.) At every turn of the page, I had 4 girls in our tiny play room literally falling over each other as they tried to copy the poses. I don’t think there was any relaxation, and certainly no ujjayi breathing, but no shortage of excitement about learning the alef-bet. And in the end, what more could you want from any kind of ABC book?
My daughters have insisted that I hang up the accompanying poster in their bedroom. Would you like one too? Leave a comment by March 23, and I’ll choose one winner at random to receive a copy of the poster from Kar-Ben. (Thanks, Jessica!)
If you’re looking for another great alef-bet book, check out this one, by Michelle Edwards. I’m working on a column about it for the PJ Library, and will post a link here next week.
