Some friends visiting the other night brought an interesting show & tell along: saint figurines they’d bought from gumball machines! For a mere 50 cents you could have your very own Virgin of Guadalupe, St. Anthony, or even JPII (John Paul II)!
Called “Santos,” apparently this unique twist on the more traditional candy/prize gumball dispensing machine typically see near entrances to malls and supermarkets are popping up all over the place. For the truly kitschy out there, you can buy your very own “Santos” capsule kit for $48.00, complete with a display card of possible saint figurines–all you need is a gumball machine to go with it.
I kind of want one. I love the idea of sending my friends home with fun saint figurine party favors after dinner parties.
