Everyone’s favorite cinema god, Morgan Freeman, was in a car accident yesterday evening.
The “Dark Knight” star and an unnamed female passenger were traveling east down the Mississippi Highway 32 when his 1997 Maxima car veered off the road. Freeman tried to bring the car back on track but instead the vehicle flipped over several times–allegedly going airborne–and came to a rest. Emergency workers used the Jaws of Life to pry Freeman and the passenger out of the car. Never one to lose his cool, the Academy Award-winning actor joked with rescue workers and bystanders who were trying to snap shots of him on their camera phones by saying, “No freebies, no freebies.” (And this is why I love Morgan Freeman.)
Freeman and the passenger were airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee were he has been listed as being in serious condition. There is no word on the condition the female passenger is in.
In recognition of this breaking news, Beliefnet has created a prayer circle for Morgan Freeman and the female passenger. Please join us in prayer.
