What sad news! The Huffington Post is reporting that Pulitzer Prize winning author Frank McCourt is “gravely ill with meningitis” and “not expected to live” according to his brother Malachy.
Throughout his memoirs, “Angela’s Ashes,” “‘Tis,” and “Teacher Man,” McCourt–one of my favorite authors–told about his life growing up in poverty, first in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then in his homeland, Ireland, where his family returned in hope of a better life when he was a young boy.
