As the first episode of American Idol season 10 came to a close, a shy but calmly confident 16 year old from the Bronx took the audition stage. He’s not your average 16 year old kid. He has a twin brother and a mixed ethnicity family that had to live in a shelter after they lost their home due to his father’s illness. Tough times.He wowed the judges tonight with a soulful rendition of “Eleanor Rigby” and followed it with a spot on “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. Upon learning that he made it to the next round in Hollywood, his family rushed into the room. His proud mother, overcome with emotion, jumped up and down with her hands in the air as she exclaimed, “Praise Jesus!” There is no way of knowing how far Travis will go in the competition but he’s certainly won the hearts of many tonight.
