Who would’ve thought that “Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas” would sell as many albums as pop-princess Britney Spears? With a disappointing first week, Britney sold 115,000 copies of her album “Britney Jean” – making this her lowest ever first week of sales.
“Britney Jean” is Britney’s eighth studio album and she claims that it is her “most personal record yet.” While “Duck the Halls” is the Duck Dynasty’s first studio album, there is sure to be more to come with their surprising success. Country superstars joined the duck gang on the album – Luke Bryan, Josh Turner, George Strait and Alison Kraus.
“Duck the Halls” debuted at number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, selling 69,000 copies in its first week of release. The album was behind another, high profile, holiday album Kelly Clarkson’s “Wrapped in Red” – which debuted at number 3 with 70,000 copies. In its second week of release, “Duck The Halls” remained at number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart, seeing a slight sales increase to 73,000 copies. As of December 11, 2013, it has sold 473,000 copies in the United States.
