Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Billy “The Great” Hope, a junior middleweight boxing champion in “Southpaw.” Hope had all the riches he could dream of–a solid family and a soaring career. Then in one moment it was all taken away after an accident killed his wife Maureen Hope (Rachel McAdams). Hope’s despair drove him to rock bottom, along with another blow when he lost his daughter to protective services. Trainer Tick Willis (Forest Whitaker) comes into Hope’s life, and helps him reclaim his world back, and trust back.
