Wes CravenWes Craven best known as the godfather of horror films passed away August 30, 2015 after a battle with brain cancer. Craven, a director, writer, producer and actor, is best known for films such as A Nightmare on Elm Street, the Scream series, The Hills Have Eyes, The last House on the Left, Red Eye and My Soul to Take. Craven has undoubtedly created some of the best horror films that will be archived as the scariest films of our time.

Most of Craven’s films were horrifying because they all revolved around the common exploration of the nature of reality – in A Nightmare on Elm Street the consequences of dreams and in Scream the horror films that referenced their current lifestyles and situations.

Craven married three times. He has two children, Jonathan and Jessica, with his first wife Bonnie Broecker. In 2004, Craven married Iya labunka and she often worked as a producer on Craven’s films. In his free time, Craven loved to bird watch and often referred to himself as a “birder.” In 2010, he became a member of Audubon California’s Board of Directors and remained on the board up until his death.
