News broke that the NFL issued a warning to pop singer Lady Gaga that politics were off limits during the Super Bowl LI Halftime Show. The NFL issued a statement that this was “nonsense.” A report surfaced that the singer, who has been vocal regarding now President Donald Trump and various social issues, was scolded to refrain from mentioning this in her performance.

The NFL issued a statement immediately following the rumor.

“This is unsourced nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none.”

The 6-time Grammy winner will perform on Feb. 5 when the New England Patriots face the Atlanta Falcons.

“I’ve been planning this since I was 4, so I know exactly what I’m going to do,” Gaga said. “For me, it’s all about giving to the fans and bringing people together that wouldn’t normally come together.”

The league echoed this in a statement released to “Entertainment Tonight.”

“The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together. Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this.”

Gaga is said to be solely focused on her performance and has been working with her dancers to perfect the act.

People are just going to have to wait to see what happens during the show. We can only speculate what might happen.

“We are confident Lady Gaga will put on a tremendous show for fans,” the NFL also stated.

It has been a politically charged season for the NFL as it opened up the season with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick sitting in protest during the National Anthem. Kaepernick said he would not show pride in a flag that “oppresses black people and people of color.” The act of protest created a ripple effect in the league. Many fans and some players deemed the protest as being inappropriate because of the stage Kaepernick preferred to use.

Super Bowl LI will be played on Feb. 5 on Fox.
