The acclaimed dramatic series about Jesus’ life and ministry has come to BYUtv, and it’s everything we needed this Christmas!

The Chosen has become a global phenomenon. The series has been viewed in 180 countries and been translated into 50 languages. Now, it is available to stream for free on BYUtv.

The series, created by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins, is the first-ever multi-season TV show about the life of Jesus. Jenkins does an incredible job creating a proper historical and biblical context for the events it portrays.

We get to see Simon Peter (Shahar Isaac), Mary Magdalene (Elizabeth Tabish), Matthew (Paras Patel), and Nicodemus (Erick Avari) as they come to learn and follow Jesus Christ (Jonathan Roumie). The Chosen allows us to see Jesus through the eyes of those who knew Him. Viewers watch these characters transform over several episodes, a creative choice by the writing and production team.

“I’ve seen every Jesus movie ever made, and one issue I often had was a lack of depth in the characters. A multi-season show allows us to explore these people so that their encounters with Jesus are even more impactful,” Jenkins says. “We believe if the audience can see Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met him, they can be impacted in the same way.”

As a way to celebrate the Christmas season, Jenkins brought some of today’s leading Christian music artists to celebrate the birth of the Savior, shooting musical performances on the Goshen set, Desert News reports. Christmas with the Chosen will feature-length special that includes performances by Grammy winner Madisa, Dove Award winner Matt Maher, Grammy-winning duo for King & Country, and Billboard Music Award winner Chris Tomlin, among others.

This wonderful faith-based is accessible to all denominations and to people from all walks of life.

All Season 1 episodes, along with Christmas With the Chosen, is available now to stream for free on the BYUtv app. Season 2 will be available on BYUtv in 2021. You don’t want to miss it!
