Football player Tim Tebow recently opened up on what married life to model Demi-Leigh has been like and what he has learned.
“Dating Demi was great. The engagement was better. And being married is even better than that.” Tebow said during an interview with People.
The pair married in 2020 after dating for just nine months. Tebow met Demi at one of his non-profit events for the Tim Tebow Foundation. During an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford Tebow said, “Her sister has special needs, so we invited them to Night to Shine in South Africa.” The pair hit it off and started a whirlwind romance that moved quickly.
Tebow is known for being very private but has opened up with the media and fans when it comes to Demi.
“She is a really special girl, and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life,” he told ESPN in an interview.
The outspoken Christian said serving with his wife has been one of the most fulfilling things they have done together. Much of which is done during Tim Tebow Foundation events. The couple hosts an annual event called ‘Night to Shine.’ The event is for children and adults with special needs. Demi had a sister with cerebellar agenesis and unfortunately passed away in 20019. Demi has said her sister was her greatest motivation in life.
Once the pandemic hit, many things the couple did changed. Tebow came from a big family and was used to always being on the go. Demi was more of an introvert who wanted to be at home. Tebow learned to be more patient with Demi and said it was really good. The couple has three puppies, and the patience has been a blessing when teaching the pups potty training.
The marriage itself hasn’t been a cakewalk, and Tebow admitted there had been challenges because while the pair have a lot in common, they are also very different.
Demi prefers downtime to relax, and in the beginning, Tebow admitted he was being insensitive and didn’t understand Demi. The pair worked through their obstacles and now instead argue over things like the thermostat. Demi prefers the heat, and Tebow can’t sleep if he’s hot, so they have different temperatures for their bed set. The device called ChilliSleep keeps Tebow at a cold 59 degrees.
Tebow has said he’s not much of a cook for his wife, but cooking is important in her Afrikaans culture. Demi is a South African native, and similar to barbecuing, they have a cooking style called braai. Demi’s family is said to be excellent at braai, so Tebow has worked to become a better braai cooker.
While the couple has overcome many challenges in their relationship, the glue that holds them together remains their faith and passion for helping people with special needs. The couple looks forward to continuing to grow and learn from each other as they continue their journey together.
