The life story of one HGTV host has been a real page-turner. Twenty years ago, real estate broker and house-flipping expert Page Turner picked up her life and moved herself and her three young daughters from Los Angeles to Nashville in search of “a better, easier life.”

Flash-forward several years later to 2018, and she became a household name to HGTV fans who saw her co-hosting “Flip or Flop Nashville.” Now, Turner’s making her debut as a solo host of her show, “Fix My Flip.” She’s putting her own money on the line, offering to help house-flippers in her California hometown who are out of cash and in over their heads.

The undercurrent of Turner’s journey from California to Tennessee and back is her faith. In an interview with CBN’s Faithwire, the HGTV host explained she didn’t grow up knowing the Lord. She was reared in an agnostic household with a mother who believed in “a higher power” and dabbled in Hinduism but never truly encountered God.

Turner added, “What’s interesting is she sent me to a Catholic, all-girls high school. She sent me there out of discipline because I was bad in public school.” However, her experience in Catholic school led her down the path that ended in her coming to know God and starting a relationship with Jesus. The TV personality said, “It took me many years to find that relationship with the Lord outside of religion and the confines of religion, which I sort of got jarred in and stuck in. When I finally found a relationship well into my twenties, now even in my late forties, it’s just growing and getting stronger. I’m getting more of an understanding of myself through my relationship with God.”

One of the places where Turner is learning more about the character of God is actually on her show. She explained that, on “Fix My Flip,” she comes to the negotiating table with struggling house-flippers and offers her money and expertise, but not everyone, she said, accepts her help.

“You know, you can call on God for help, He sends help, and then that pride and ego comes in, and it’s like, ‘I just gave you what to do, and you’re not gonna believe me, either by doubt or fear or whatever it is that is keeping you from accepting the help?’” Turner said. She added that it’s critical to humble ourselves and seek God in prayer for believers.

“That’s when He hears our call and our cries,” she said. “And it’s like, ‘OK, when are you going to get tired of going through what you’re going through?’ That’s the ultimate humility, you know, saying, ‘OK, I’m done with this because it’s not working my way.’”

With that in mind, Turner said she tries to spend moments in prayer throughout the day, calling it an “all-day conversation that I have externally and internally with God.”

“You have to keep that connection daily so that, when dips happen, it’s like, ‘OK, let me just go talk to God. I’ll be right back,’” she added. To learn more about Turner and her new show, “Fix My Flip,” click here. New episodes air Thursdays at 9 p.m.
