Despite being eliminated from “America’s Got Talent” last week, Amanda Mammana shared her gratitude for God allowing her to share the Gospel. Mammana was performing at the Luis Palau CT CityFest event for her first appearance since being eliminated. As she took the stage, she was congratulated for how she had inspired others with her performances on the show. When asked about her testimony, Mammana responded saying, “For about 10 years now, I’ve had a stutter, and it’s definitely something that has caused me to shy away and to not believe in myself. But by the grace of God, I found that I don’t stutter when I sing. So, I’ve been able to take that and to let that just be a great way to spread the Gospel.” She said it was the Holy Spirit that had inspired her to enter the contest and that she gave “all glory to God.” When asked what she would say to others facing struggles, Mamamna said, “Those lies, they are straight from the Devil. But it’s amazing that we have a God that is so much stronger. He’s given us the power to overcome anything that comes our way.”
Mammana came on the scene in July when she brought the AGT judges nearly to tears during her audition as she sang an original song based on her experiences. Obviously nervous as she took the stage, Mammana slowly explained her situation and the judges watched skeptically as she prepared to perform for them. That skepticism soon faded as Mammana performed a beautiful and flawless song. After wowing the audience and the judges, Mammana shared that her impediment had caused her to lose confidence in herself. “There were times when I was a kid where I was like, ‘I can never do anything like this … I’m not good enough.” Host Howie Mandel expressed how impressed he was with her saying, “I believe you’re moving millions of people at home. I just want to say, ‘Thank you.’” Mammana moved on to the semifinals round where she was able to perform her original song, “Worth Fighting For.”
Although she did not make it to the finals, she continues to be an inspiration to others. Christian Heritage School in Trumbull, Connecticut, where Mammana graduated, posted support for her on its Facebook page. “CHS Alum Amanda Michelle Mammana showed the world that obstacles can be overcome, that beauty can come from struggle, and that gifts from the Lord will always be unwrapped and used for His glory by those who love Him. Amanda, thank you for shining your light, lifting your voice, and walking in His confidence.”
