The 95th annual Academy Awards were held on Sunday evening and were nothing short of inspirational. The four main acting awards were won by industry veterans who until now, had never won, or some not even nominated for an Oscar award. Veteran actress, Jamie Lee Curtis, won her first Oscar award for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role,” after being in the industry for decades. Michelle Yeoh was awarded “Best Actress in a Leading Role,” being her first Academy Award where she was directly recognized and making her only the second woman of color to be awarded the honor. Veteran actor, Brendan Fraser, won “Best Actor in a Leading Role” for his role in “The Whale,” making it his first Oscar. Lastly there is Ke Huay Quan, who began his acting career in the 80’s starring in movies such as “The Goonies” and “Indiana Jones.” After his childhood roles, he was unable to find any work, about to give up on his dream, before landing his role in “Everything, Everywhere All At Once,” which swept the Academy Awards, earning Quan “Best Actor in a Supporting Role.” Needless to say, the Academy Awards this year was an inspirational one.
