Megan Danielle showcased her beautiful voice while singing Lauren Daigle’s “Thank God I Do” after advancing to the Top 12 in “American Idol.” The 21-year-old Christian singer-songwriter sang the beautiful song after Ryan Seacrest announced that she had won America’s vote. “It was Lauren Daigle who inspired her and sang with her back in the Vegas auditions, and she’s paying homage again to her tonight,” said Seacrest. Danielle took to Instagram to thank everyone who voted for her and to give a shoutout to Lauren Daigle, who serves as an inspiration to her. “A HUGE shout out to @lauren_daigle !!! Thank you for writing this song. You’re such an inspiration and I’ll never give up,” Danielle wrote in her caption.

Back in February, Danielle auditioned in front of the judges with Daigle’s song, “You Say,” where Daigle gave her a surprise visit. Daigle, who is an “American Idol” alum, sang her song with Danielle before the judges gave told the 21-year-old that she would be advancing to the next round of the competition. In her audition tape, Danielle spoke about how her grandparents were a huge reason why she began pursing Christian music. She shared that she used to be in a band that performed mostly at bars before her grandmother pulled her aside to ask, “This isn’t what you’re supposed to be doing.” She also recalled her grandfather asking her, “How can you sing for God and sing for this?” This led Danielle to focus on Christian music completely. Danielle is set to compete for a spot in the Top 10 which is set to air on Sunday.
