Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are attached at the hip. The country star recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with his wife and former “The Voice” castmates, Adam Levine and Carson Daly, there to commemorate him.
After the ceremony, Shelton told Fox News Digital, “Well, nothing’s official to me unless Gwen is a part of it. It wouldn’t have felt right. In fact, I probably would have made sure and searched around and found a day, if she couldn’t have been here today, to be sure we did it on a day where she could at least be here with me because things just aren’t fun unless she’s part of it.”
Shelton clarified how much Stefani means to him during his speech, saying, “I kind of stopped checking things off my list of great accomplishments in my life when I married Gwen.” He also said getting his star is “just the icing on the cake.” Shelton called Stefani “the greatest thing that’s happened along this journey.”
Stefani’s three kids, Zuma Rossdale, Apollo Rossdale and Kingston Rossdale, whom she shares with ex Gavin Rossdale, came out to support their step-dad. Stefani couldn’t help but gush about her husband while giving a speech on his honor, saying he stayed true to who he is after realizing his dream of being a country star and staying genuine. She said, “Blake, you are a rare human being, and for all the success you have had in your life, he’s the same guy today as he was back then. A country guy with a love for country music.”
She continued, “The reason Blake Shelton is here today on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is because you are part of the country dream, the Hollywood dream, and you are part of the American dream. And everybody knows you are my dream come true.” Stefani referenced Shelton’s Oklahoma upbringing, illustrating a little boy who spent his time in the woods with a soul connection to country music and what it represents.
The former No Doubt member also praised her husband for being brave enough to move to Nashville alone at 17 to chase his dream of being a country singer. Stefani said, “There is no one more authentic than this guy. He lives and breathes country music. He is a country music jukebox, and it’s in his DNA. He was born to do this and hasn’t done anything because he wanted to be a star. He has just always been a star.”
Despite his success in the industry, Shelton never dreamed he would receive such a big honor, saying in his speech that something like this was “never on his radar.” He explained, “I had a dream of being a country singer, hearing myself on the radio one day; I never ever thought that path would lead me here.”
Shelton spoke candidly about his confusion about what he would say during his speech, ultimately getting inspiration from his mother, who had traveled from Oklahoma to be there for her son’s big day. Shelton’s mother brought up his brother Richie, who died when Shelton was 14. Shelton dedicated his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to his brother.
