Christian musician and songwriter Lauren Daigle recently revealed that her song Rescue was based on a vision from God about a woman she hadn’t met yet.
Daigle recently joined Bart Millard, Steven Curtis Chapman, Anne Wilson, and Michael Cochren onstage at the K-Love Fan Awards’ “Songwriters Showcase” in Nashville. Churchleaders.com reports that each musician performed three songs. One of the songs Daigle chose to perform was “Rescue” from her 2018 album “Look Up Child.” Daigle also revealed the inspiration for the song.
Daigle told the audience, “I got this picture of this girl that I didn’t know, hadn’t met her, but it was a very clear, clear vision of someone that was experiencing drug addiction.” Daigle reiterated the fact that she didn’t know this person.
However, Daigle shared that a woman approached her years later and said the song changed her life. She recalled the woman saying, “I ended up going to rehab, and I used your song.” Daigle said, “I remember seeing this person and thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, she doesn’t even know that this is exactly how the song was written.’”
Before noting that God gave her this song to help this woman, Daigle said, “God will do something amazing with songs.” “Rescue” is the third single from “Look Up Child,” focusing on the depth of God’s love for His children.
The lyrics read in part, “I hear you whisper underneath your breath. I hear your SOS, your SOS. I will send out an army to find you. In the middle of the darkest night, I will never stop marching to reach you. In the middle of the hardest fight, it’s true; I will rescue you.”
Daigle, who won Female Artist of the Year, also performed at the award show.
