Actress Cameron Diaz shared a little bit about her private life during an interview with Jimmy Fallon, gushing about how good her husband, Benji Madden, is with their daughter. She told Fallon, “He’s like Benji at home, being the best dad ever and running all of his businesses.”
When Madden isn’t out performing with his band Good Charlotte, he’s at home making songs for his daughter Raddix. Diaz said, “He makes up songs for Raddix. I’m like, ‘Why don’t we just, you need to do a kids’ album because he has the best songs. They play in my head all the time because he sings them to her, and she knows the words. And it’s the sweetest thing ever. It really is. It’s so, it kills me.”
Diaz added, “He has some bangers. I’m telling you.” Diaz and her husband are very protective of Raddix and work to keep her from the spotlight, rarely discussing her online and with the media. When she was born, the couple shared that they “feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy, so we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really, really cute! Some would even say RAD.”
Diaz, known for her roles in the “Shrek” film series and “Annie,” revealed that her time away from the big screen will continue now that she is a mother. The actress, who last appeared in a movie seven years ago, said that becoming a mother changed her perspective on her career in Hollywood.
She said on the radio show Quarantined with Bruce, “Will I ever make a movie again? I’m not looking to, but will I? I don’t know. I have no idea. Maybe. Never say never. But I couldn’t imagine being a mom now where I’m at as a mother, with my child at her first year, to have to be on a movie set that takes 14 hours, 16 hours of my day away from my child.” Diaz and Madden first met at an event attended by his twin brother, Joel Madden, and his wife, Nicole Richie.
Diaz recalled when she first saw Madden during an interview on the Anna Faris Is Unqualified podcast in 2021. She explained, “I met them first, and then they didn’t set us up, but we were in the same room because of them, and then we found each other.” She was surprised that Madden was in her social circle but that they had never formally met. “I was, like, ‘How come I didn’t see him before?’ ” asked Diaz.
Richie then introduced the duo. In July 2014, Richie told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she set them up. “I’m going to take responsibility for everything!” said Richie. “I approve of anything that’s going to make Benji happy.” The couple tied the knot in a low-key ceremony in their Beverly Hills home in January 2015.
Diaz and Madden surprised fans when they announced they had welcomed their daughter, Raddix Madden, on Dec. 30, 2019, in Los Angeles.
