Jennifer Hudson recently welcomed 5-year-old “preacher” Luke Tillman back to her show to share some scripture with the audience. During an episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Hudson said, “I hear you got a new scripture for us.”
Tillman replied, “Well, in the Bible, it starts with Genesis. It says, ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.’ Well, verse 2 says, ‘The earth was formless and empty, and God said let there be light, and there was light.’ And let me tell you something, right there, that light was good!” This wasn’t the first time Tillman, who is the son of a pastor, has appeared on Hudson’s show.
He went viral with a video of him “baptizing” one of his Paw Patrol toys. Tillman said to Hudson, “You want to know what I’m going to be when I grow up. I’m gonna be a pastor and a Christian.” Hudson asked his father, Ezra Tillman, how he felt about his son’s desire to become a pastor. He said, “It’s a blessing. You know the pressure is always on PK’s (pastor’s kids) and that whole development. For him to decide to want to do it and authentically do it, it’s a blessing.”
He added, “This year is 20 years of me preaching, and he preached to 20 million people in one week. I haven’t reached that in 20 years. I’m very happy about that.” During his first appearance on Hudson’s show, Tillman “recited his favorite scripture passage John 3:16 and sang ‘Take Me to the Water’ with the Grammy Award-winning singer.”
Hudson told Tillman, “You have lifted us all up. You have an amazing calling on your life, so you keep doing what you’re doing, okay, and walking to God’s will. You gonna do that?” Tillman replied, “I’ll never forget about God.” Luke initially went viral after his mother posted a video of him singing “Take Me to the Water” and baptizing his stuffed toy. Then, Jennifer Hudson invited Tillman and his parents on an episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show.”
She told the audience, “Okay, y’all ready for a little church today? My next guest is a five-year-old preacher who went viral when his mom captured him baptizing his toy in the bathtub. You gotta see this.” After the interview, Hudson gifted Tillman a basket of Paw Patrol characters.
