As country music legend Reba McEntire sang “The Star Spangled Banner” before Super Bowl LVIII, several players for the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs were visibly moved. However, as the camera panned from player to player, one NFL star stood out among the crowd: Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones, a player who was one of the keys to the Chiefs’ victory.
Multiple media outlets reported that the national anthem moved Jones so that he was brought to tears. Even the National Football League commented on the tearful moment, sharing an eight-second clip of Jones crying with the caption, “Same, Chris Jones.”

As the Daily Mail noted, Jones, who was drafted in 2016, has spent his entire NFL career with the Chiefs. The player had a powerful last season, garnering 15.5 sacks and 44 tackles — both career highs.
It was a genuinely moving and emotive moment to see Jones react in such a raw and vulnerable way. The Chiefs went on to defeat the 49ers in one of the most extended games in NFL history, with the final score coming in at 25 to 22.
