The Oklahoma Sooners took the world by surprise at last year’s softball Women’s College World Series and did the same this year to win the World Series in a 4-peat thanks to their talent and bold faith on the field. Sports Spectrum reported that third baseman Alyssa Brito, who was part of the championship team last year, “is hitting .406 with 18 home runs and 59 RBIs while leading the team in hits, OPS and slugging percentage. She went 3 for 3 with two home runs and a double in the first of Oklahoma’s two wins over Florida State in the Super Regionals.
Through her time at OU, Brito shared with Sports Spectrum in 2023 that her “trust in God has grown so much more, and I feel like that’s shaped me as a person more now, knowing that I can just be who I am on the field and off the field. She added, “I just feel like getting the opportunity to be different and bring attention to the Kingdom and have conversations about Christ, I think that’s definitely made me feel more confident in my faith.” More importantly, Brito has been a shining light for Jesus for those around her.

In March, she helped one of her teammates be baptized. She wrote in a post about the baptism, “God, Your timing is good. You have a beautiful and perfect way of writing Your story. Thank you for a gentle reminder today, that we rejoice and we PRAISE You, not this world.” She continued, “What is seen as loss in this world, God, You ground us in Your truth. Truth that You already won. Victory is WON. Won when You sent Your Son to die for us on the Cross. Paying the ultimate debt and sacrifice for us. Breaking the barrier of sin between Your children and You, Father.”
The post concluded, “We don’t deserve this borrowed breath, God, yet today and every day, we thank You for waking us up and filling us with a purpose for Your Kingdom. Today, there’s a party in Heaven!!!!!” She often posts about her faith, encouraging her fans to seek a relationship with Christ. “My identity is in Christ,” she said. “His love is greater than any stats, results, or failures.”
