Two-time Grammy award-winning artist Justin Bieber recently opened up about his relationship with Jesus. He said, “I believed in Jesus, but I never really like, you know when it says following Jesus is actually turning away from sin. What it talks about in the Bible it’s like there’s no obedience. There’s no faith without obedience, so it’s like I had faith about like, ‘Oh, I believe Jesus died on the cross for me,’ but I never really implemented it into my life. I never was like, I’m going to be obedient.” Bieber’s turning point was when his perception of Jesus changed.
He explained, “I think it was my percentage of who Jesus really was, you know. I’d had really bad examples of Christians in my life who would say one thing and do another, so they were the direct example of who Jesus was. That’s why I didn’t take it as seriously because I didn’t have a good example.” Bieber continued, “The way I look at my relationship with God and with Jesus is I’m not trying to earn God’s love by doing good things. God has already loved me for who I am before I did anything to earn and deserve it. It’s a free gift by accepting Jesus and just giving your life to him, and what he did is the gift.”
Bieber, who is often outspoken about his faith in God, told GQ of the miracles God provided. He said, “Hurt people hurt people—you know? And there’s a quote: The comforted become the comforters. I don’t know if you’ve heard that before. But I really do feel comforted. I have a wife who I adore who I feel comforted by. I feel safe. I feel like my relationship with God is wonderful. And I have this outpouring of love that I want to be able to share with people, you know?” Faith is at the forefront of Bieber’s marriage to Hailey Baldwin. He committed to remaining celibate before he wed. “I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul,” Bieber told Vogue of the decision. “And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior.”
The singer has also been open in the past about wanting to be a father, and earlier this year, he and Baldwin announced that they are expecting their first child. The couple shared the news over their social media pages. The announcement included a video of a vow renewal ceremony officiated by pastor Judah Smith. In the video, “Hailey wears a long, lacy white dress and a veil, highlighting her growing bump.
She also included a few photos, standing with Justin in a field. Placing his arms around her belly, Justin stands behind her, showing off their matching wedding rings,” PEOPLE reported. Many of Justin’s fans and followers offered their congratulations on the post.
