Hollywood star Vince Vaughn, 54, showed up with his family in tow to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The actor, who has a decades-long career in mainly comedic roles, received his star on August 12th. His wife, Kyla, their two children Locklyn and Vernon, as well as other members of his family including his parents, sisters, and aunt all turned out to celebrate the milestone. Prior to receiving his star, Vaughn shared with Fox News how special it was to share the moment with his wife and children. “Yeah, it’s so great to share it with all of them. It’s nice when you can have some time together and share a moment like this,” he said.

During his acceptance speech, he acknowledged the importance of his family. “My beautiful wife Kyla — so glad that you’re with me on this now. I’m so grateful for you and for these beautiful kids, and for all the laughter that we share together,” he said, addressing his wife of over 10 years. “And as much as all this means, Vernon and Locklyn, and these honors, you guys really do need to know that you guys are the most important thing in the world to me,” he added. He then joked that his children are, “not as lucrative,” and “you don’t give me access to the stuff that this kinda thing does, but with that all being said, you guys are the most important, and I love you both very much. It’s great to have you guys with me.” Vaughn and his wife met in 2008 at a wedding while Kyla was still living in Canada. The two tied the knot in 2010. Vaughn was also joined by longtime pal and producer Peter Billingsley, who was a guest speaker, and fellow actor Mel Gibson.

A press release from the Hollywood Walk of Fame acknowledged the actor’s work in comedy. “Vince Vaughn has become one of Hollywood’s most highly acclaimed triple threats as an actor, producer and screenwriter,” the release acknowledged. The actor’s breakout role was in the cult classic Swingers, released in 1996. His film The Wedding Crashers with Owen Wilson was a huge commercial success. He has also taken on more serious roles, such as his role as Sgt. Howell in the Mel Gibson-helmed Hacksaw Ridge. Vaughn said in his acceptance speech that he was inspired to get into comedy after watching Animal House. “[I felt like] I could do that, and maybe make people laugh and give families a good night to discuss stuff and have joy,” he said. He also acknowledged his parents for giving him “the gift of storytelling and watching movies and laughing and talking about them afterwards.”
