Erik Estrada, best known for his role on “CHiPs,” has voiced concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI), saying it has the potential to “destroy lives.” In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the 75-year-old actor and host of “Divine Renovation” acknowledged the advantages of AI but cautioned that it is often used for harmful purposes, highlighting a growing ethical dilemma.

Estrada emphasized that technology, including the internet and smartphones, can have a positive impact when used responsibly. He called for AI to be harnessed for good—creating jobs, fostering goodwill, and benefiting society. However, he expressed dismay at how some people exploit AI for malicious purposes, including identity theft, deep fakes, and various forms of deception. “They need just to use the positive side of it,” Estrada said, urging a focus on AI’s potential for good.

One of Estrada’s primary concerns is how AI can generate deepfakes—realistic but fraudulent videos, images, and audio that can be used to misrepresent people. Celebrities, like Estrada himself, have been targets of such deep fakes, with their likenesses manipulated in misleading and sometimes damaging ways. These manipulations can promote products, spread false information, and even implicate people in embarrassing or inappropriate situations.

Estrada used a humorous but pointed example to illustrate the dangers: “They can make up me endorsing horses, or cows, or cow pies… and that’s wrong, and it’s not very Christian.” His comment reveals his belief that the misuse of AI goes against ethical and moral values, particularly his Christian faith. He warned that while AI can be a force for good, many will use it to harm others and tarnish reputations.

Beyond his concerns about AI, Estrada has had personal experience dealing with scams involving his name and likeness. As a member of a federal task force combating internet crimes against children, Estrada has been working with law enforcement to tackle AI-related fraud. Scammers have impersonated him online, especially on social media, using his image to trick unsuspecting individuals. Estrada is actively pursuing these criminals with the help of federal authorities.

The actor’s role in law enforcement underscores his commitment to justice and helping those who are vulnerable. Estrada also extends this sense of service through his faith-based home improvement show “Divine Renovation”. In the show, he works with local communities, nonprofits, and churches to improve the homes of families in need, blending elements of home improvement with a spiritual mission. Estrada’s goal is to spread goodwill and serve others, which is in line with his Christian beliefs.

Estrada spoke openly about his Christian faith and how it guides him through personal struggles. He often turns to prayer for strength, asking God for guidance and forgiveness when faced with difficulties. “I apologize for the mistakes I make and choices I’ve made,” Estrada shared, adding that his faith helps him find peace during challenging times.
