A powerful moment of faith took center stage on NBC’s “The Voice” when contestant Lauren-Michael Sellers delivered a stunning rendition of Hillsong United’s famous worship song, “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail).” The 35-year-old singer from Birmingham, Alabama, not only captivated the hearts of the judges but also sparked a deeply spiritual atmosphere in the studio.

The blind audition, which aired this week, saw all four judges—Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg—turn their chairs for Sellers. The heartfelt worship performance visibly moved each judge, but it was Snoop Dogg’s reaction that stole the spotlight.

As Sellers’ soulful voice filled the room, judges Stefani and Bublé were the first to turn their chairs, clearly impacted by the worship song’s message. Bublé praised Sellers for her voice and control, calling her performance “a beautiful breath of fresh air.” He added, “This whole place just blew up.”

Stefani, too, was overcome with emotion, recalling how the 2013 worship song by Hillsong United had personally touched her life. “I was on a run, and ‘Oceans’ came on, and I just had this profoundly spiritual experience,” Stefani said. “Hearing you sing it, it felt very real and honest.”

The deep connection to the song was palpable, not just for Stefani but for the entire room. Reba McEntire was next to turn her chair, followed closely by Snoop Dogg, who explained that Stefani’s reaction led him to take action.

Snoop Dogg, who has often spoken about his spiritual journey, shared what was going through his mind as he listened to Sellers sing. “While you were singing, I was seeing Gwen light up as if God was coming in the building, and I didn’t want to be left out when He came,” Snoop revealed. His words resonated deeply, capturing the essence of the emotional and spiritual moment that Sellers had created on the stage.

McEntire added to the sentiment, saying, “I watched her, I listened to you, and I thought this was magical. I love your voice. Emotion, when people are singing, if you can feel it—oh my gosh, that’s the greatest gift.”

With all four judges vying for her to join their teams, Sellers faced a tough decision. However, her choice was influenced by a personal prayer she had prayed just before stepping on stage. She disclosed to the judges that she had prayed “Reba’s prayer,” which she described as: “Holy Spirit, walk with me, talk with me, sing for me, speak for me.” This heartfelt prayer guided her to choose Reba McEntire as her coach.

Sellers didn’t just stop at her on-stage performance. The day after her audition aired, she posted a clip on Instagram of herself leading her fellow contestants in worship at their hotel pool. Together, they sang “Oceans,” a moment Sellers described as “unforgettable.

“Singing my blind song Hillsong United’s ‘Oceans’ together was so powerful—such a beautiful reminder of how music connects us to one another and to God, no matter where we are,” Sellers wrote. “Feeling blessed to share this journey with such incredible souls.”
