Former Growing Pains actor Kirk Cameron is seeking to clean up children’s entertainment with his own crowd-funded show, “Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk.” Cameron unveiled a trailer for the show, which is made possible by his partnership with Brave Books. “Parents today are searching for kids’ entertainment they can trust — shows that align with their values and capture their children’s attention in a meaningful way. ‘Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk’ does just that, blending fun and purpose into a series the whole family will want to watch together,” Cameron told CBN. “I can’t wait for families to watch the full episodes but, for now, the trailer will give them a taste of the adventure that’s in store!”
Brave Books founder Trent Talbot shared Cameron’s enthusiasm. “I’m thrilled for families to finally experience it. This premiere marks the beginning of something special, a place where kids can be entertained and inspired in a way parents can trust.” A statement said the show will focus on instilling biblical values. “This family-focused, live-action series combines laughter, learning, and biblical values, offering parents and grandparents a trustworthy entertainment option that reflects their values and brings the family together.” Talbot is himself a father and soon-to-be grandfather. “As parents, we have been forced to settle for mindless entertainment or just downright harmful content. It’s time we had a show for our children that not only sparked their imagination and engaged them, but also built their character and strengthened their worldview while doing so.” Leigh-Allyn Baker, who plays “Creative Leigh,” called the show fun. “I’m so excited to finally share a sneak peek of Adventures with Iggy and Mr. Kirk! We’ve packed every episode with heartfelt inspiration, positive, uplifting lessons… and FUN!”
The market for wholesome kids’ programming is ever-expanding, with Cameron joining others like Angel in designing more shows for kids. Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire + has also made a huge investment into children’s programming. Their new Bentkey app features the DW’s own original show, Chip Chilla, and a number of other European shows like “Ernest and Celestine.” The Federalist’s Joy Pullman called the investment “necessary. “Since people are not primarily rational but imaginative beings, The Daily Wire’s serious investment in cultural content is not only prudent but necessary. Human beings’ instincts are pre-political, and engaging right brains is a non-negotiable tool of pre-suasion towards a saner culture.”
