Jason “Sundance” Head, winner of The Voice Season 11 and son of legendary musician Roy Head, is praising God for sparing his life after a terrifying accident. The country singer suffered an accidental gunshot wound to his stomach while hunting alone in the Texas woods. Thanks to divine intervention, quick-thinking first responders, and skilled medical care, Sundance is alive to share his testimony.

In a heartfelt Facebook video, Sundance expressed gratitude for the “good Lord above” and those who rushed to his aid, calling the experience “the craziest thing that ever happened” to him.

The incident unfolded during a solo hunting and camping trip. Sundance explained that his .22-caliber revolver—a vintage-style gun reminiscent of the Old West—slipped from its holster and discharged. The bullet struck him in the stomach after hitting the doorjamb of his Jeep.

“I reached my hand into my pocket to grab my phone, and my pockets were already full of blood,” Sundance recounted. Realizing the gravity of his injury, he summoned all his strength to run toward the highway for help, jumping a fence in desperation.

Cars initially passed him by, but eventually, a Good Samaritan stopped. “He was like an angel from Heaven,” Sundance said tearfully. “I was never so glad to see somebody in my life.”

The passerby helped get him to safety, and Sundance was airlifted to the University of Texas at Tyler for emergency treatment. Miraculously, the bullet missed all his vital organs and became lodged in fatty tissue, sparing his life.

Sundance admitted he believed his time had come. “I saw the light, man, and I really thought I was dying. But I prayed a lot, and I felt super peaceful.” His prayers were answered as medical teams worked to stabilize him.

Sundance expressed immense gratitude in his video: “I didn’t die the day before yesterday, and I have another opportunity to live. The Lord has blessed me beyond what I can even comprehend.”

His wife, Misty, also took to social media, rallying prayer warriors during the ordeal. “Any higher or lower would have been devastating,” Misty wrote in a follow-up post, sharing a photo of the bullet hole in Sundance’s shirt. “God is awesome.”

This isn’t Sundance’s first time in the spotlight. After winning The Voice in 2016 as a member of Blake Shelton’s team, he became a celebrated country artist. His powerful renditions, including Otis Redding’s “I’ve Been Loving You Too Long,” showcased not just his vocal talent but also his deep soul and authenticity.

Now, Sundance is using his platform to share his testimony. “I want to thank everyone for praying for me and my family. It’s the scariest thing I’ve ever been through, but I know God gave me another chance to live.”

Sundance’s near-death experience powerfully reminds us of God’s protection and provision, even in life’s most harrowing moments. His story of survival and faith resonates deeply with fans and believers alike.

“I feel like the Lord has plans for me,” Sundance said. “He’s given me a second chance, and I’m not going to waste it.”

Let’s continue to lift Sundance and his family in prayer as he recovers and continues to use his gifts to glorify God.
