The 82nd Golden Globe Awards marked the beginning of the awards season, celebrating new talents and works in film and television. The event, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, aired live from the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 5.
“Emilia Pérez” was named Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy and Best non-English Language Film, while Zoe Saldaña took home the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance. The movie’s song “El Mal” won Best Original Song.
Meanwhile, “The Brutalist” was named best motion picture—drama. Brady Corbet was also named best director for the latter, while his star Adrien Brody was named best actor in a drama.
Demi Moore was awarded Best Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal in “The Substance.” The film has sparked a comeback for Moore, who was one of the biggest box office draws of the 1990s, but who said she was utterly unaccustomed to winning awards for her work. “Thirty years ago I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress, and at that time I made that mean that this is not something I was allowed to have,” she said. “That I could do movies that were successful and made a lot of money, but that I couldn’t be acknowledged.”
