Hollywood icon Jamie Foxx, 57, recently opened up about his renewed connection with God, sparked by a life-altering health scare. After suffering a brain bleed in 2023 that led to a stroke and a weeks-long coma, the award-winning actor, comedian, and musician shared how his faith played a vital role in his recovery.

Speaking to Extra on the Golden Globes red carpet, where he was nominated for his comedy special What Had Happened Was…, Foxx reflected on how the fast-paced life of Hollywood can sometimes overshadow spiritual priorities.

“You know, when you’re in Hollywood, God sometimes slips away,” Foxx admitted. “But when I spoke to Him, He said, ‘Listen, I need you to sit over here for a second. When you get back out there, I’m not telling you to be an angel, but you’ll have a different thing.'”

Foxx shared that the ordeal gave him a fresh outlook on life and faith, teaching him to appreciate his family’s support and the power of prayer. His daughters, Corinne Marie and Anelise Estelle, became his pillars of strength during his recovery, stepping up in ways that deeply moved him.

“When tragedy happens in a real way, you need solid family and friends,” Foxx said. “My daughters held me down in a way that is hard to interpret in these settings.”

In addition to his family’s unwavering support, Foxx credited the prayers of countless fans and well-wishers for his miraculous recovery. In a heartfelt Instagram post on his 56th birthday in December 2023, he expressed gratitude for the spiritual outpouring.

“I NEEDED EVERY PRAYER,” he wrote. “You lifted me through… I was able to make it to today because of your prayers.”

Now, nearly two years after his health crisis, Foxx has adopted a positive philosophy on life. He describes his new perspective as akin to brightening a photo with a filter.

“You take a picture on your cell phone, and you hit that first filter, and it brightens up—that’s the way my life looks now,” he explained.

Foxx’s testimony highlights the often-overlooked challenges of staying connected to faith while navigating the glitz and grind of Hollywood. His journey reminds us of the healing power of prayer, family, and a renewed focus on God.
