Playoff season is in full swing for NFL fans and one player has nothing but praise for God after leading his team to victory in their first game of the playoffs. The Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels was pivotal in securing his team’s 23-20 lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Daniels threw in a pivotal touchdown pass to receiver Terry McLaurin on a 4-and-2 outing, keeping the team competitive for the rest of the game. The Commanders’ Zane Gonzalez scored the final three points of the game, with his final kick just tapping the goalpost and falling into the right side of the post. It is the first playoff win for the Commanders (formerly the Redskins) in 19 years.
Daniels, a rookie who displayed the calm of a seasoned veteran, gave glory to God when asked about the nerve-wracking game. “Trust in the Lord God. There’s nothing I should worry about, man. Put all my worries on Him,” he said. Many voiced their support for Daniels on X, with one user writing, “What a great man! And such a young age. His parents did very good. After speaking, he changed places with team mate to give him direct access to the reporter was class.” “That’s such a powerful response,” wrote another. “It really shows the depth of his character and how his faith shapes his approach to the game. Do you think this mindset is part of what makes him stand out on the field?”
Daniels has had a phenomenal rookie season, completing 24 of his 35 passes for 268 yards during the regular season. Throughout his first pro season, he has often shared his faith. During an interview with Boardroom, he described how God helped him after leaving Arizona State for LSU. “I was dealing with stuff in my personal life and had to go across the [country] to a whole different university without knowing anybody out there. Trusting what God had for me and the plan He had set out for me,” he said. The Commanders will now face the Detroit Lions on Saturday, January 18, 7pm Central time.
