Gwen Stefani is taking heat after supporting Jonathan Roumie after he was interviewed by Tucker Carlson. Roumie, who plays Jesus on the very popular “The Chosen” TV series, appeared on Carlson’s podcast and posted the interview to X. “My friends…Had an AMAZING conversation with @TuckerCarlson, out now!” Roumie wrote. Stefani reposted Roumie’s link, writing, “Wow @JonathanRoumie u r a powerful inspirational human what an [sic] enlightening intelligent beautiful interview thank you for being u.” Roumie responded, commenting, “It was an unexpectedly insightful and rich conversation. So grateful for you.” Both Roumie and Stefani are Catholic and have been featured on the Catholic prayer app, Hallow.

However, some of Stefani’s fan’s weren’t too keen on her promoting Carlson, who is seen as a right wing extremist by liberals. “Gwen as a long time fan you’re making it harder and harder to keep supporting you please don’t platform Tucker Carlson the Russian propagandist good lord,” wrote one user. “So glad you love the guy who plays Jesus, but you do realize you are also promoting Tucker Carlson? Tragic Kingdom was my first CD at age 11, Hollaback Girl was my college anthem. You hosted a fundraiser for Barack Obama…Gwen what has happened?” said another.

Others, however, defended Stefani. “He’s a Catholic and Gwen is a Catholic and it’s the beginning of Lent. Why can’t everyone just be themselves without all the presumption and judgement??” asked one user. “Gwen, thank you for posting this and allowing the world to see how unhinged people have gotten over politics. Just take a look at the responses from your ‘fans’ in here,” said another. “I’m following you now Gwen, loved you since your ska days in the 90’s and now love you more for loving God and Jesus and seeing Roumie as an inspiration, Ignore all the demons who will screech that you accept goodness.”

Stefani and her husband, Blake Shelton, are fans of “The Chosen,” with Shelton posting, “Random two thumbs up from a country singer… Just finished season 3 of The Chosen and I absolutely love it. No question in my mind why it’s a world wide phenomenon.” Both Shelton and Stefani have spoken more about their faith, with Shelton attending church for the first time thanks to Stefani. His recently released single, “Let Him in Anyway,” features a heartfelt intercession for a friend who has passed.
