This Christmas, you can watch an extraordinary choir, a Broadway icon, and a television legend right in your living room.

This year’s Christmas with The Tabernacle Choir concert, airing on December 17, will feature Tony Award-winning Broadway and opera star Kelli O’Hara, and Emmy-winning television actor Richard Thomas.

The concert will feature carols and ballads from various music traditions, including bluegrass, folk songs, Broadway classic, and African American spirituals. In addition, you get to see Thomas recite “Christmas Day in the Morning” by Pearl S. Buck, and “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost, along with the Christmas story from Luke 2.

O’Hara opened up about the opportunity to perform with The Tabernacle Choir, which she said was a dream come true. She grew up listening to the Choir’s albums on her grandparents’ record player, so this was the chance of a lifetime.

“Nothing could have prepared me for this experience, of hearing the voices of the Choir filling the space behind me, of everyone coming together to be part of something greater than ourselves and to celebrate oneness, love, and hope,” O’Hara said. “It reminded me of why I started singing in the first place. This is an extraordinary program for our extraordinary times, and I hope that it can serve as a balm for our weary hearts this holiday season.”

Thomas also opened up about his experience, The Tabernacle Choir’s music was a part of all my childhood Christmases, so it’s just thrilling to be a part of this concert and to plug all of my love of Christmas into the experience.”

“Whatever faith tradition you come from, beautiful music is beautiful music, and expressions of caring and humanity and of aspiration are all the same for us. This program is filled with those sentiments and can bring all kinds of people together, especially in these difficult times,” Thomas added.
