Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa recently gave all the glory to God after his team’s win against the Los Angeles Chargers. “First and foremost, I’d just like to give all the glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,” Tagovailoa said in an interview with CBS Sports. “Without Him, nothing is possible for me.” After one week of the regular football season, Tagovailoa threw for a total of 466 yards with 28 completions, which earned him the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. The Miami Dolphins took to Instagram to shoutout Tua on his accomplishments over the past week with the caption. “Uce popped off in Week 1. Congrats @tuaman on being named AFC Offensive Player of the Week!”

Last season, the young quarterback suffered two major concussions that could have ended his career. Last spring, Tagovailoa admitted in an interview that he considered retirement after his injuries. “I considered it for a time, having sat down with my family, having sat down with my wife and having those kind of conversations, but it will be hard for me to walk away from this game with how old I am,” the 25-year-old told reporters. “I always dreamed of playing as long as I could to where my son knew exactly what he was watching his dad do. It’s my health. It’s my body. I feel like this is what’s best for me and my family. I love the game of football, if I didn’t, I would have quit a long time [ago].”

Tagovailoa has previously spoken about his Christian faith. In 2019, Tua spoke about his faith and relationship with Jesus in an interview with CBN News. “The greatest gift that God could’ve ever given us was His Son,” he expressed. “It’s not just a matter of hearing what Jesus Christ is. It’s a matter of getting to know who Jesus Christ is — to really understand and really feel the identity of who you are because of things that He’s done.” He added, “And I’d say you can only find your identity through Him, if you know Him.”
