The NFL’s Vice President of broadcast planning, Mike North, recently revealed in a press conference that they took Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour into consideration when planning the 2024 NFL schedule. Swift has continued on her stadium tour where she performs in many of the NFL stadiums, therefore many NFL teams needed to coordinate that they did not overlap. For example, Swift has shows at each of the homes of the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts in three straight weekends from mid-October to early November. Many people speculated that they were taking Swift’s schedule into consideration so that she could attend more Kansas City Chiefs games amid her world tour. In November, the Chiefs are set to face to Buffalo Bills in Buffalo Nov. 17, just a short drive from Toronto, where Swift is set to perform her Eras Tour between Nov. 14 and 27, but North said this was not on purpose. “I saw a lot of conspiracy theorists talking about Kansas City at Buffalo in the middle of the season, right when Taylor’s playing Toronto,” North said. “That one definitely did not hit our radar screen.” North did confirm that they took a look at Swift’s tour dates that are taking place in NFL stadiums in the upcoming months. “We certainly considered the tour dates that hit NFL stadiums,” North said. “I think she’s in Miami, maybe New Orleans, Indy. We certainly considered those.”
As most of the world knows, Swift attended a handful of Kansas City Chiefs games last season to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. With her attendance, she was responsible for a huge increase in viewership. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about the rise in viewers due to Swift’s impact in a Super Bowl press conference. “The Taylor Swift effect is also a positive. It’s great to have her a part of it. Obviously it creates a buzz, it creates another group of young fans, particularly young women that are interested in seeing, ‘Why is she going to this game?’ ‘Why is she interested in this game besides Travis?’ She’s a football fan. And I think that’s great for us.”
