As Kate Middleton continues to battle cancer, insiders close to the family have recently shared how the princess is feeling and how she is handling it all. In recent weeks, Middleton has been spotted running errands with family members or by herself. “Kate’s feeling strong enough to be very involved with the kids,” an insider told US Weekly. “She’s been an active parent.” Another source added, “Kate’s recovery is going well. She’s not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick and they don’t want her compromised, but she’s up and about.” Many people are wondering when she will return to her royal duties, with reports saying the princess may not resume her work until the fall or even next year. A Kensington palace spokesman recently shared an update saying, “We have been really clear that [Kate] needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors.” According to an insider, Kate’s team is “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back,” noting, “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
The Princess of Wales recently broke her silence in a letter after she was unable to attend the Colonel’s Review, a rehearsal for Trooping the Colour, King Charles III’s birthday military parade. She apologized for her absence and for not being there to take the salute. “I wanted to write to you to let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour,” the princess wrote. “I appreciate everyone at Trooping the Colour this year has been practising for months and dedicating many hours to ensure their uniforms and drill are immaculate. Being your colonel remains an honour and I am very sorry that I’m unable to make the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review. Please pass on my apologies to the whole regiment. I do hope that I’m able to represent you all once again very soon. Please send my very best wishes and good luck to all involved.” The palace has not confirmed if Middleton will be in attendance of any kind at Trooping of Colour, whether that be in the carriage procession or simply an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
Prince William recently attended an event where he greeted veterans ahead of the 80th anniversary of D-Day where he gave a quick update on his wife’s health. A veteran who fought in the war eight decades ago greeted the Prince of Wales and asked if Kate is “getting any better” following her cancer diagnosis. William is heard responding back to the veteran saying, “She is better, thanks. She would’ve loved to be here today.”
