The image, shared on Trump’s website, purported to show Swift backing his candidacy. Swift clarified that the incident had stoked her fears about the dangers of AI and misinformation, particularly in the realm of politics.
“Recently, I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation,” Swift said. “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
This instance of AI-generated disinformation struck a chord with Swift, who has been vocal about her concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry. The incident provided the final push she needed to make her endorsement clear.
Swift cut straight to the point and stated her full support for Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.
