In one of the most unforgettable moments in recent NFL history, Washington Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels delivered a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass to wide receiver Noah Brown, clinching an 18-15 victory over the Chicago Bears. With just 25 seconds remaining, Chicago seemed poised to secure the win, but Daniels had other plans—plans he attributes entirely to God.

Following the miraculous play, Daniels, who had been nursing a rib injury throughout the week, told CBS Sports in a post-game interview, “Nothing but God. Man, nothing but God. Without Him, I didn’t even think I’d be playing this week. But man, all glory to God.”

The pass, which soared over multiple defenders before landing perfectly in Brown’s hands, instantly became the most memorable play of the 2024 NFL season. Not only did it secure Washington’s first place standing in the NFC East at 6-2, but it also elevated Daniels into early MVP discussions. Despite being listed as questionable before the game, the 23-year-old quarterback defied the odds, spending the week in recovery and preparation.

Daniels reflected on the journey leading up to the game, explaining, “A lot of long hours, long days, but I put myself in the position to go out there. But like I said, nothing but God.”

A 2023 Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU, Daniels is no stranger to openly discussing his Christian faith. After a win over the New York Giants earlier in the season, Daniels took to Instagram to share Proverbs 3:5-6: “‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.'”

Before entering the NFL, Daniels wrote in The Players Tribune about his faith journey, saying, “I feel like everything God has put me through has prepared me for a moment like this.”

Daniels’ commitment to his faith has been evident throughout his career. After winning the Heisman in 2023, he encouraged young people to “always believe in yourself—no matter the doubters, no matter what people say about you, just believe in yourself. Lean on your faith with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and just keep working.”
