Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx recently turned to his faith after a violent incident at a Beverly Hills restaurant left him injured and requiring stitches. Foxx, 57, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking fans for their prayers and condemning “the devil” for trying to steal his peace during what should have been a joyful celebration.
“The devil is busy … but I’m too blessed to be stressed,” Foxx wrote, addressing the incident that occurred Friday night at Mr. Chow, a celebrity-favorite eatery in Beverly Hills. Foxx was celebrating his birthday with friends when an unknown individual from another table threw a glass, striking the actor in the mouth.
Foxx, who received medical attention for his injuries, shared that despite the incident, his faith remains strong. “The devil is a lie. Can’t win here,” he posted, emphasizing that the challenges he faces only serve to strengthen his resolve. He thanked fans for their prayers and support, adding, “When your light is shining bright, they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it.”

Authorities from the Beverly Hills Police Department responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon at the restaurant. However, the investigation revealed the incident was a “physical altercation between parties” and not a deadly assault. Police continue to investigate, and no arrests have been made.
Foxx’s representative confirmed the details of the altercation, stating that law enforcement is now handling the matter. Despite the ordeal, Foxx’s focus remains on his faith and gratitude.
This latest incident comes after a year filled with challenges for the actor. In April 2023, Foxx suffered a life-threatening medical emergency while working on the Netflix film Back in Action. The actor later revealed he had experienced a brain bleed and a stroke, leaving him in a wheelchair and unable to walk for weeks.
“I was fighting for my life,” Foxx shared in his Netflix special What Had Happened Was, which has since become a hit on the streaming platform. Reflecting on his recovery journey, he described waking up after a 20-day memory gap and finding himself in a wheelchair. Through it all, Foxx credited his faith and determination for his recovery.
