Have you ever seen an elephant walk the streets of New York City? How about six elephants in a row?
To prepare for and celebrate the arrival of the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey circus in New York City, the circus had their annual elephant walk yesterday night. Six Asian elephants, along with eight ponies, walked in the rain from Queens through the Midtown Tunnel to Madison Square Garden. The walk lasted from 11:30 pm to 2:00 am.
Elephants give us wonder because their gigantic size matches their gigantic gentle spirits. Elephants inspire us because they are playful, intelligent, and loyal animals, and they are marvelous to behold. “Sentient, dignified, and beautiful,” elephants also made Beliefnet’s ultimate A to Z gratitude list.
